There’s something heart warming about native birds in a garden. The Kakaruwai sculpture captures that feeling in weathering steel — quiet, watchful, and deeply connected to the land.
By day, it stands as a bold feature among planting.
At night, it glows softly, casting warm light and shadow through your space.
Handcrafted in Christchurch, this is more than decoration — it’s a piece that settles into your landscape and belongs there.
Select the size that suits your garden or project:
Corten steel is designed to evolve. Over time, it forms a rich, protective patina that deepens in colour and character — no painting, no upkeep required.
This means your sculpture won’t just sit in your garden — it will age with it.
Each sculpture comes with mounting flanges, use suitable bolts or screws to secure to your deck, patio, or concrete slab, so setting up your new garden feature is a breeze.
From coastal sections to inland landscapes, this piece is built to handle the elements.
How long does it take to develop its patina?
The weathering process begins immediately and develops over weeks to months depending on conditions (needs moisture for the patina to develop quickly. Quicker in autumn and winter).
Does it need maintenance?
No. Once the patina forms, it protects the steel naturally.
Is the light included?
Yes — the integrated solar light is included for NZ orders.
Can it be secured to the ground?
Yes — it can be fixed depending on your base surface. Ideal for both residential and commercial installs.
We can create this piece in custom sizes, finishes or any other specification to suit your project.
